We have talked about Adam Yeend‘s short film project Scary Endings before. He, along with his team, have been releasing new horror shorts every month. Just in time for the end of the month festivities, they have released their Halloween themed short Yummy Meat: A Halloween Carol which premiered at Screamfest on October 18. Keep reading!
Yummy Meat was written by Sean J. Decker, directed by John Fitzpatrick, and stars Miracle Laurie, Luke Albright, Lucas Jaye and Lou Ferrigno Jr. Yummy Meat tells the following story:
On Halloween night, snarky dentist Amber (Laurie) hands out toothbrushes to the neighborhood kids, only to discover that one of them may soon be brushing bits of her from his teeth.
First off, never give out toothbrushes on Halloween. If you do, that makes you the worst person, ever. There’s no pagan ritual which kept evil spirits away by keeping their teeth clean. Everything that happens to Amber is very well deserved due to her lack of being a decent, respectable, candy wielding human being.
The short was shot phenomenally, which if you’ve watched any other Scary Endings, you’d know that is standard for their team. Sean tells a great story, and Fitzpatrick shows it off well. It’s always fun to watch a production get away with having a smaller budget, and the way the monster is shown in Yummy Meat is a great example of just how to do it. Creepy shadows and a POV shot with just a protruding hand makes the budget for a monster go way down.
Scary Endings is a big project to take on, and after four months in, they are still going strong. Each story is, on it’s own, great and scary. Next months episode has something to do with a bounce house, and that is oddly exiting. If anything Yummy Meat: A Halloween Carol has got us exited to see what else these guys can cook up!
