Halloween is steadfastly approaching, with it bringing some of the best events of the year to Southern California. From haunts to screenings to special one night affairs, there’s just something about SoCal in the September to October months that just screams Halloween in a way no other can. No Halloween celebration would be complete without an evening of dancing, terror, and of course, drinking with the Drunken Devil himself.
The Drunken Devil, spearheaded by the Gatsby of Halloween Matt Dorado, is throwing the can’t miss Halloween party of the year, with The Witches’ Ball: A Halloween Bacchanal. This completely immersive Halloween experience will send attendees through a shadowy, highly immersive ‘scare zone,’ inhabited by a host of terrifying witches and creatures from the beyond. If they survive the creatures, they will be welcomed with a one of a kind party fit for only the most decadent of occasions.
Visually themed after classic horror films from the ’60’s and ’70’s, The Witches Ball will look like attendees walked into a Dario Argento film, giving the atmosphere a psychedelic noir feel. There they will be treated to a hosted bar presented by Stolen Rum, which will feature hand-crafted cocktails starring the New Zealand-based smoked rum, as well as an array of additional options including wine, beer, and various spirits. Complimentary tarot card readings, horror installations, and prime entertainment will make this event worth of the Drunken Devil name.
No Drunken Devil event would be complete without the A-talent performances that dazzle attendees time and time again. Scarlette Fox, returning to the Drunken Devil stage for the fourth time in a row, will dazzle guests with burlesque and aerial acrobatics, while The Rigomortettes, a duo of dancers who perform with acid doom rock band Old Blood, will bring their phantasmagorical movement art to the event. In addition, Bob Baker alum Matt Scott, with his company Rasputin’s Marionettes, will enchant audiences with darkly humorous marionette performances, and Go-Go Amy, of the Pretty Things Peepshow, will entice the crowd with a series of decadent and dangerous vaudevillian acts. Acclaimed DJ Chris Bowen will be spinning his all vinyl collection of dark disco and techno all night long.
The Witches’ Ball will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2016. In the spirit of secret witch gatherings of old, the venue will only be revealed to ticket holders the day of the show. Doors open at 9pm, featuring performances from 10:30pm – 11:30pm, with the event concluding at 2am. Tickets are $60 and are highly limited in number.
If you have never danced with the devil, we highly recommend you shell out the $60 for tickets. Matt Dorado is an expert when it comes to nightlife, and the past Drunken Devil events have surpassed our expectations every time.
