The Story of “Turbo Kid”

The Story of “Turbo Kid”

“T for Turbo” was the title for a 5 minute short film that accompanied 25 other shorts in the ABCs of Death 2 anthology film from 2014 by the directing team of RKSS. Now Turbo Kid will be released into theaters this weekend.

RKSS is a Quebec based directing team consisting of François Simard, Yoann-Karl Whissell and Anouk Whissell. Together they made the short film and saw the cult following it quickly received. One year later, they put together a 90 minute feature that throws you back to the 1980’s of post apocalyptic wastelands with truck loads of gore.

The plot goes:

In a post-apocalyptic future, THE KID, a young solitary scavenger obsessed with comic books must face his fears and become a reluctant hero when he meets a mysterious girl named APPLE. Despite their efforts to keep to themselves, ZEUS, the sadistic and self-proclaimed leader of the Wasteland, plagues THE KID and APPLE. Armed with little more than blind faith and an ancient turbocharged weapon, THE KID learns of justice and friendship and embarks on an incredible journey to rid the Wasteland of evil and save the girl of his dreams.

Recently the team behind Turbo Kid released an Indiegogo, not to produce the film, but to create promotional material. They want to make action figuresgraphic novels, and more. They have 3 goal levels and the first level was met in just 7 days! Incredible. The action figures are now guaranteed to get made. And with 27 days left they are less than $5,000 from their second tier; which gives us the Graphic Novel. As for the third tier, well that is a surprise. We Are Indie Horror is awaiting a response on the full story of concept to screen. We look forward to informing the community of how a little crazy gorey short film is now a feature on the route for success.

The trailer for Turbo Kid is below. Check out the craziness and no warning necessary but warning; lots of gore to follow.

In theaters this weekend, August 28 and you can also pre-order your copy from iTunes right now!
