Jon’s Haunts: Rotten Apple 907

Our featured FearMaker for the week, Jon Schnitzer, is an expert in haunts. His upcoming film Haunters: The Movie explores the ins and outs and the drama of all things haunted events. We Are Indie Horror asked Jon to give us his five favorite haunts and like most other creative types, he was not able to give us just five; Jon gave us seven. Throughout the week we will explore these haunts and explain why he loves it and where you can find it.

Today we take a look at the Burbank home haunt Rotten Apple 907. A house haunt that changes it’s theme every year scare over 2500 people annually. They are a non-profit event that accepts donations given directly to a charity in need. They donate to charities such as Burbank Arts For All FoundationFamily Service Agency of Burbank, and Burbank Boys & Girls Club among countless others. No overhead is taken out of the contributions which means 100% of the money received is sent to charity.  “In 2010, we donated over $3000 to Family Services Agency of Burbank.”

Jon has a lot of positive sentiments about Rotton Apple 907. Here is an excerpt:

“For their 25th year they’ve created an old western town in their driveway. Last year it was a clown maze with clowns in bumper cars coming after you, the year before that a haunted mansion with an upside down room with upside down people chasing after you and all of this is just the drive way of a friendly neighborhood haunt.”

Rotten Apple 907 started as a child’s birthday party for the home-owner’s daughter. She had a birthday around Halloween time and her parents created a mini haunt walk through for the party goers. As time went on, the ideas became more extravagant and has grown into a full experience. Today the members of the Meyer family along with a group of volunteers build and act in the haunt.

This non-profit FREE Burbank home haunt is open for limited dates. The remaining dates are Friday October 30th and Saturday October 31st from 7PM – 10PM. Be sure to arrive early.
